Our mission is to work towards the educational, cultural and political development of underrepresented youth. We want to empower youth to take leadership roles in the community, to advocate for social and political change and to combat racism, sexism, classism, xenophobia, heterosexism, transphobia, ableism and all other forms of institutional oppression and discrimination through grassroots organizing.
Part of L.U.S.; mission is to empower youth through civic engagement by visiting the State Capitol and learning
about the processes of policy making while advocating for change in their community. Closing the historical gaps
between those in power and the disempowered is part of our philosophy for change.
Peer education is key to organizing and understanding
the intersectionality of identities and oppression. We learn from
each other through our own experiences, knowledge and
individual and collective power.
To empower youth and serve our community, our community events are always youth led and educational. We organize around social issues, art and to translate knowledge to our most vulnerable community members.
Youth lead change by organizing their community to advocate for social and political change, such as police profiling, I.C.E raids in immigrant communities and other important issues.
